Fashion designer Mahmood Bhatti arrives in Pakistan
LAHORE: Renowned French fashion designer of questions Pakistani origin, Mahmood Bhatti, Friday arrived in Lahore for a week. During this visit, he will announce his future plans.
One of the toughest addictions to lose is glamour – the limelight, the arc lights, the applause, and the whole nine yards of a blitzkrieg of fantasy. But there are some who can forsake it all for an entirely parallel world. Bhatti is that rare exception who is all set to relinquish luminous castles in the sky for the man-on-the-street.
After a 32-year reign as a leading couturier who played a pivotal role in bringing Pakistani couture to world-stage, Bhatti is bringing the curtain down on his life as a fashion guru. And this is for a rebirth as a philanthropist. His last shows, scheduled in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad respectively in partnership with Geo and Jang Group, will showcase his farewell winter collection along with a retrospective of over three decades in the business of vanity. A self-funded endeavour, this is carded to put all his other shows in the shade and all proceeds will go to charity. He plans to transport a unique experience to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad executed by his team from the fashion Mecca of Paris. “From models to light-men, I will bring them all and make it a grand finale of my career.” During this visit, he has the plan to meet the management of Jang Group to finalise details of his last fashion shows. Bhatti is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
